Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Mudsoft Inc. ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and handles information in connection with Box Organizer Buddy (the "App"), available on iOS and Android.
By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.
Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
When you use the App, you may create and store the following on your device:
- Box names, descriptions, and cover photos
- Item names, photos, quantities, conditions, values, serial numbers, and notes
- Location names and hierarchies
- Tags and categories you create
This information is stored locally on your device only. It is not automatically uploaded to any server or cloud service.
Device identifier
When you use AI features (visual search, auto-fill, receipt scanning, or the AI assistant), the App generates a random device identifier. This identifier is used solely to authenticate your requests to our AI service and to enforce fair-use rate limits. It is not linked to your name, email address, or any personally identifying information.
GPS location
When you add a box, the App may optionally capture your device's GPS coordinates to record the physical location of the box. Location access is only used when you explicitly store a box location. GPS coordinates are stored locally on your device alongside the box record.
Photos
Photos you take or select from your camera roll are stored locally on your device. When you use AI-powered features (such as visual search or auto-fill), a selected photo is temporarily transmitted to our AI service for analysis. Photos are not stored on our servers after processing is complete.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
- To provide the App's core functionality — organizing and retrieving your boxes, items, and locations.
- To power AI features — when you use visual search, auto-fill, or receipt scanning, your images and queries are securely transmitted to our AI service and returned as analysis results.
- To maintain App stability — anonymised error information may be collected to identify and fix technical problems (see Section 7).
We do not use your information for advertising, marketing profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the App.
AI Features & Third-Party Services
Some features in Box Organizer Buddy are powered by third-party AI service providers. These features are optional and clearly marked in the App (indicated as "Pro" features or activated only when you explicitly tap an AI action button).
When you use an AI feature:
- The relevant content (an image or text query) is transmitted securely over HTTPS to our AI service gateway.
- Our service gateway forwards the request to the appropriate third-party AI service provider to perform the analysis.
- The result is returned to the App and displayed to you.
- Transmitted images are processed in real time and are not retained by us or our AI providers beyond the duration of the request.
We select third-party AI providers that maintain appropriate data handling standards. We do not permit our AI providers to use your data for purposes other than responding to the immediate request.
Data Storage & Security
Your inventory data — boxes, items, photos, locations, and tags — is stored exclusively in a local database on your device. We do not operate cloud sync, backup, or storage for your personal inventory data.
Because your data lives on your device:
- If you delete the App, your data will be deleted along with it.
- If you change devices, you are responsible for transferring your data using the App's built-in export or backup features.
- Your data is protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, biometric lock, encryption).
For data transmitted to our AI service (images and queries for AI features), all communications are encrypted using HTTPS. Transmitted content is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers after the request completes.
Your Choices
AI features are optional. You can use the App fully without ever triggering an AI feature. AI actions (visual search, auto-fill, receipt scanning, AI chat) only transmit data when you explicitly initiate them.
Camera and location permissions. You can grant or revoke camera and location permissions at any time through your device's Settings app. Revoking camera permission will disable photo-based features. Revoking location permission will disable GPS coordinate capture; all other features will continue to work normally.
Deleting your data. You can permanently delete any box, item, photo, or location from within the App at any time. Deletes are permanent — there is no recycle bin or undo for deletions. A confirmation prompt is shown before any delete action.
Deleting the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data from your device. This action is irreversible.
Error Logging
The App uses an internal error logging service to capture anonymous technical information when an unexpected error occurs. This helps us identify and fix bugs to improve the App's stability.
Error reports may include:
- The type and location of the error within the App's code
- Device type, operating system version, and App version
- Anonymous session context (e.g., which screen was active)
Error reports do not include your inventory content (box names, item details, photos, or personal notes). Error logs are retained only as long as needed to diagnose and resolve the reported issue.
Children's Privacy
Box Organizer Buddy is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App and provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to address the situation.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's features, applicable laws, or our data practices. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
